Our Eco-Elegant Mindset

Our mission at Williams Denim as always been to live in much as harmony with the earth as we possibly can.

We are always looking for new ways and new ideas to limit our impact on the earth through our fashion footprint.

The materials we use and how we create our products all have an impact on the world around us. Currently it takes about 7000 litres of water to produce the cotton it takes to make 1 pair of jeans. That doesn't take into account the other detrimental effects of processes like sandblasting with chemicals like potassium permanganate to give your jeans a faded or distressed look. Also, of note is the fact that about %15 of fabric is wasted in the production of a garment.

While our handcrafted manufacturing process in the production of jeans helps to rebalance some of these issues; Our commitment starts with the treasured creatures around us; the animals. To start we will only ever use vegan leather for our back patches.

A little known truth is that the dye used to create the blue indigo in most jeans is synthetic and comes from chemicals. I have denim options from the Kuroki mill in Japan that use a traditional plant based indigo dye that makes these jeans friendlier to the earth.

There are many more ways we can all work to be better stewards of our planet. This is just the beginning for us. I look forward to seeing where this journey takes us, and hopefully we will all be better off because of it.

Love,
The Williams family
